Let’s Talk – Social Justice with Aunty Veronica Gorrie

Tune in to Let’s Talk…social justice with Kevin Yow Yeh for the fourth episode of Kevin’s deep dive into state-sanctioned colonial violence in this place. This week, Kevin catches up with award-winning writer and prominent police and prison abolitionist, Veronica Gorrie.

Veronica is a proud Gunai/Kurnai woman, a writer and the author of Black and Blue and an activist.  Ronnie was a recipient of Creative Victoria’s First Peoples funding program for the writing of ‘Nullung’.  Ronnie was also the recipient of The Wheeler Centre Hot desk Fellowship 2020. 

Ronnie is also the recipient of the Inaugural First Nation Writer’s Residency for the Australian Council for the Arts 2021 as well as the recipient of the First Nation Writer’s Fellowship for Varuna the National Writers House and in 2022 the recipient of the Law and Justice Fellowship with Australian Progress .

Ronnie is currently working on her new book (Anthology) ‘When Cops are Criminals’ to be published in 2024.
