Let’s Talk…Black Politics with Amy McQuire

Chelsea & David talk to long-time friend of Triple A, award-winning Darumbal and South Sea Islander  journalist, writer, academic, podcaster, and parent, Amy McQuire. In a broad-ranging conversation, the Black Politics team think together about the critical importance of building ethical, accountable, and sovereign ways to account for and report on the deaths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the colony.

Drawing on Amy’s PhD research and her long-standing work with families and communities grieving their loved ones, this episode considers the specific role of “Black Witnesses” – academics, activists, journalists, artists, and family members – in honouring the lives of people who have died at the hands of the colonial state apparatus, while also understanding the political conditions that shaped their deaths.
