In this episode of Let’s Talk…Referendum, host Karen Paterson catches up with Kooma, Murawarii and Gamilaraay podcaster and activist Boe Spearim.
Boe has been involved in grassroots activism and media for over a decade, helping to establish the Brisbane Aboriginal Sovereign Embassy in 2012 and becoming a founding member of the Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance. More recently, Boe has been producing and hosting a podcast called Frontier War Stories, dedicated to truth-telling about a side of Australia that has been left out of the history books.
In this interview, Karen and Boe talk through the grassroots opposition to the Voice to Parliament, and why so many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander activists and community organisers have grave concerns about who these proposed changes will really serve.
