Today on Let’s Talk we are discussing the power of Black media in the Torres Strait, with the CEO of the Torres Strait Islander Media Association Diat Alferink. Born in Port Augusta and raised in Lyndhurst, Diat’s mum Daisy was from the Badu and Mabuiag Islands and her dad is well known South Australian sculptor Cornelis Alferink, also known as TALC ALF.
Diat now lives with her partner and three young children on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait, where she’s Operations Manager of the Torres Strait Islander Media Association.
