Let’s Talk – Social Justice with Boe Spearim

In this week’s episode of Let’s Talk…Social Justice, host Kevin Yow Yeh catches up with long-time friend of Murri Country and former host of Let’s Talk, Boe Spearim to kick off a brand new series of episodes looking at state-sanctioned colonial violence and the long history of Indigenous resistance and refusal in this country. Boe is a Gamilaraay & Kooma radio host and podcaster, whose hard-hitting podcast “Frontier War Stories” aims to tell the truth about histories of colonial violence and Indigenous resistance in this country.

Boe is also a parent to two young children, a tireless activist, and a founding member of the Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance, who help coordinate and organiser the Invasion Day protests that will take place here in Meanjin on Thursday 26th January. In this wide-ranging yarn, Kevin and Boe talk about the history of colonial invasion and the bloody frontier wars fought over these lands, highlighting the often hidden histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ resistance, and the ways that they continue well into the present.
