This week on Let’s Talk – Social Justice, we’re celebrating Pride month here in so-called Brisbane by kicking off a brand new series on Black queer and trans justice in this place.

In this episode, Kevin shares excerpts from a very special event: “Blak, Queer, Still Here.” This beautiful Black, queer storytelling event was hosted by the Institute of Collaborative Race Research and Inala Wangarra on Sunday 24th September at Raymond Park in East Brisbane. The full recording of the event will be available via the Institute of Collaborative Race Research.

In this episode, you’ll hear from four of the wonderful speakers from the event, including Kamilaroi man and proud gay dad Bob Smith; queer Blak performer and artist Vinnie Currie; Mununjahli, Bidjara and South Sea Islander young person Matt Bond; and Gunggari non-binary queer person Maggie Munn. These joyful, powerful, important stories will stay with you; this is an episode to listen to again and again.
