Karen Dorante spoke with Lily Hart, Rona Hart and Jason Savo. Traditional owners of Mission Beach in North Queensland who celebrated two determinations of native title, recognised by the Federal Court after a nine year-long battle. The determination recognised the Djiru people as having native title rights over approximately 9440 hectares of land that includes parts of the Tully Gorge, Clump Mountain and Hull River National Parks and the Walter Hill Range Conservation Park. Negotiations between several parties have resulted in four Indigenous Land Use Agreements and the Djiru people having exclusive and non-exclusive rights over parts of land.
