As a not-for-profit community-controlled multimedia organisation nestled in the vibrant heart of West End, Brisbane, Triple A is proud to be a pioneer in Indigenous community-controlled media. Established in the late 1980s, we began as a radio station, providing a platform for sharing stories, perspectives, and experiences that are integral to our culture. Since then, our legacy has grown, and our voice has expanded to reach not only South-East Queensland but also global audiences through digital and streaming networks.

Triple A, Murri Country, has been broadcasting since 1993 on 98.9FM, with over 10 weekly programs that bridge cultures and continents. Our evolution has seen us transcend radio, embracing the realm of campaign development, events, video production and more with our dedicated in-house powerhouse, Triple A Vision.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

120,000k inclusive of entitlements and superannuation.

 

Triple A is thrilled to announce a new and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO).

This is a 12-month full-time position with a possibility of extension, offering a salary of $120,000.00 per year, inclusive of entitlements and superannuation.

 

As a vital member of our leadership team, the COO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for the effective and efficient operations of Triple A.

You will play a key role in supporting the organisation’s strategic growth, building strong relationships with staff, First Nations Communities, and external stakeholders.

 

About You

You will have a strong connection and understanding of First Nations’ cultures, history, and traditions locally and nationally, particularly in the media context, and commit to furthering the interests and needs of our broad and diverse audience through a methodical and data-driven approach.

 

You will take pride in identifying and developing new approaches to elevating programs of work being facilitated by Triple A such as Radio, Digital Media, Communications and Events.

You will have exceptional leadership skills and judgement, a deep understanding of our audience, and experience in leading and developing teams.

You will have experience in building a supportive workplace culture where First Nations cultures is valued at the core.

 

You will have experience in management of the day-to-day functions including HR, finance, service delivery, and compliance with a focus on effective, inclusive, and empowering leadership, as well as delivering excellent outcomes for Triple A.

 

KEY CAPABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

 

  • Demonstrated experience in building strong relationships and communicating with key stakeholders across government, Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations, peak bodies, and First Nations communities.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes.
  • Demonstrated Senior Management experience in a relevant organisation.
  • Ability to lead, guide and manage people including the implementation of cultural change and change management opportunities, understanding of HR processes and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and manage a continuous improvement model for achieving outcomes.
  • Demonstrated critical listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency skills including a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
  • Senior Management experience in Broadcasting and/or Media industry.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and meet deadline under pressure
  • Knowledge and understanding of culturally sensitive and relevant content to First Nations peoples.
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction while positively contributing to the organisation.
  • Embrace diversity and inclusivity, recognising the value of diverse perspectives and backgrounds in creating a richer and more innovative work environment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

While the COO will be responsible and accountable for all operational functions of Triple A, the primary focus of this role will be on:

 

  • Operational Oversight: Oversee and manage aspects of Triple A’s operations, including program delivery, human resource management, finance and volunteer management.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of Triple A’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.
  • Financial Management: Manage Triple A’s financial resources, including budgeting, fundraising, and grant writing.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with First Nations community members, local services, networks, and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership Development: Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, mentoring and developing staff to their full potential.
