Tune in for another special episode of Let’s Talk – Black Culture with our guest host Boe Spearim in conversation with Aunty Mary Graham as part of the Palestine Network Conference. Last week, we broadcast the first half of this incredible conversation, as Boe and Aunty Mary reflected on some of Dr. Graham’s formative political and philosophical insights into the operation of power in the colony, and the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander terms of reference in building approaches to justice and liberation that can contend with colonisation head-on. Today, we pick up where we left off last week, as Aunty Mary talks through the geography of colonial occupation, the stages of colonisation, and the importance of finding strategies of resistance that combat colonial regimes from their roots (rather than simply pruning their most violent shoots).
Please note that there is a strong content warning on this episode. It includes graphic descriptions of historical and continuing colonial and racial violence, and the death of children and babies. If anything in this episode triggers difficult emotions for you, we recommend reaching out to 13 YARN or Lifeline on 13 11 14 for confidential counselling support.
