Amy McQuire marks the first year anniversary of Julieka Dhu with a focus on black deaths in custody. Miss Dhu was a 22-year-old Yamitji woman who died in custody on August 4 last year. Her family are still waiting for answers. We spoke to her uncle Shaun Harris, and Yuin academic Amanda Porter about Julieka’s case, and why Aboriginal people are still dying in custody, more than two decades after the Royal Commission.
