This week on Let’s Talk…The Arts, Rachael catches up with Warabung, Morobe, Tolai, Niu Ailan woman, Papua New Guinean-born, Australian-based R&B and future soul singer-songwriter: Ngaiire. They talk about Ngaiire’s trajectory as a singer-songwriter, and the potential power – and peril – of bringing global Indigenous traditions of storytelling and ceremony into the still predominantly white spaces of the contemporary Australian music scene. Over a wide-ranging conversation, we learn a bit about Ngaiire’s current projects, including her incredibly exciting collaboration with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, which will debut in a one-off live performance as part of Open Season 2023 in Brisbane at The Princess Theatre on Friday 4th August.
