Let’s Talk…The Arts with Arabella Walker

This week on Let’s Talk…The Arts, Rachael catches up with emerging artist and creative whirlwind, Arabella Walker. Arabella is from Wulli Wulli country and she uses art to engage with some big topics: Aboriginal lore, history, rekindling connections, tradition, research, and the challenges of modern life. Art is both personal and political for Arabella – a way of grappling with big questions as well as expressing her personal journey as an Aboriginal woman in a modern western society.

Arabella is currently in her last year of studying a Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art at QCA Griffith University. Her art style is a fusion between contemporary and expressionist with cultural intent created with an explosion of colour and life.

Walker mainly works with acrylic paints, but her dance background means that her broader practice crosses disciplines to create her unique style as an artist.
